The new CBCP president is Davao Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, D.D.
The Archbishop of Davao, said to be close to President Rodrigo Duterte who is also from Davao, is the new president of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), replacing Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas.
His excellency Romulo Valles, who baptized Duterte’s latest grandchild Stonefish Duterte-Carpio in March. The CBCP presidency is perhaps the best gift to the Davao prelate who will be celebrating his 66th birthday on July 10, Monday.
