Tamae Watanabe : Oldest Woman to Climb Mount Everest

A 73-year-old Japanese woman has become the oldest female to scale Mount Everest, breaking the record she set a decade ago.

Tamae Watanabe, a retired office worker who lives at the foot of Mount Fuji, Japan's tallest mountain, led a team of four on the assault on the northern face of Everest on Saturday.

Mount Everest
Ms. Watanabe and her team set out from their last high-altitude camp, at a height of 27,225 feet, late on Friday and climbed all night, Ang Tshering, a sherpa who coached the climbers, told The Daily Telegraph.

"She's a very strong climber and has always been very active," Sherpa Tshering said from the headquarters of the China Tibet Mountaineering Association in Khatmandu.
"She has always loved the mountains and has been climbing in the Japanese Alps and around the world for many years," he said.

Since the mid-1970s Watanabe has climbed some of the most famous mountains in the world, including no fewer than five of the 14 peaks that are more than 26,246 feet high. Read more info HERE

Ms. Tamae Watanabe
Tamae Watanabe (Japanese 渡辺 玉枝, Watanabe Tamae; born 21 November 1938 Yamanashi Prefecture) is a Japanese mountain climber. After completing study at Tsuru University she worked as public office employee of Kanagawa Prefecture. It was at this time, at age 28, she began mountain climbing.

In 1977 she climbed Mount McKinley. She then climbed Mont Blanc, Mount Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua. After her retirement she returned to her hometown and in May 2002 she became the then oldest woman to climb Mount Everest.

Ten years later, in May 2012, she broke her own record, when she, now at the age of 73, again scaled Mount Everest.

Vice Ganda-Jessica Soho Issue: Trending in Social Media, Reading Netizens' Reactions

This is my blog. This is my own space. I am entitled for my own thoughts and opinions.

"Minsan sa kagustuhan nating maging magaling, nakakalimutan nating maging mabuti."

Hubby and I really didn't like Vice Ganda's jokes over many things and personalities (not just on Soho and on gang rape but in many cases and instances). The same reasons why we no longer watch It's Showtime and GGV - Gandang Gabi Vice despite our being hooked to ABS-CBN Kapamilya's Teleserye, Primetime Bida.  We didn't find his jokes very entertaining, healthy and funny. We are not two of his haters and we respect his avid fans on their extreme belief and admiration to Vice Ganda. And therefore, our stand should also be respected. #respetolangyan

Balik Kay Vice Ganda - Jessica Soho

Oh well, some of Vice Ganda's jokes were really funny and he really has sense of humor, but not at all times. Sometimes, he hit below the belt - that might sound very offensive to other people especially if that someone is being referred to or could relate to the subject or comedy material.

Vice Ganda's Joke on Soho

After making jibes at Soho's weight, the comedian jested during his concert last May 17: "Ang hirap nga lang kung si Jessica Soho magbo-bold. Kailangan gang rape lagi. Sasabihin ng rapist, 'Ipasa ang lechon.' Sasabihin naman ni Jessica, 'Eh nasaan yung apple?'" (It will be difficult if Jessica Soho gets naked. It has to be gang rape all the time. The rapist will say, "Pass the pork!" Jessica will say, "But where's the apple?")

Vice Ganda must set his limitations; he is a TV icon and he has been very influential. He must be a good example. So, our dear Vice Ganda, discern, reflect and pray harder. Be blessed and be a blessing.

The best speech ever on a film - It Takes a Man and a Woman...
I'd like to include here what Dante Rivero's (Luis Montenegro, Miggy's Dad) said "Minsan sa kagustuhan nating maging magaling, nakakalimutan nating maging mabuti."

Jessica Soho: Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert. I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke.

They say that comedy should really not be an excuse not to be sensitive especially on issues that no one can laugh about like rape.

A friend of mine, Ms. Aileen Gutierrez posted in her FB account:

This is no longer an issue between two networks. This is an issue governing one's VALUES. Why don't you guys go back to your parents and ask them to teach you some manners, huh?!

To VICE GANDA and his concert organizers: Public apology would be never be enough. You all deserve to learn some lessons the hard way. FAME is temporary. RESPECT is permanent.

Happy reading!

Citiseconline - COL Financial Group: Our New Partner to Financial Freedom

Hubby and I started mutual funds on BPI Trade late last year, October 2012. Since it has been working so well not just for us but for our hard-earned money, of course, we came up with a yes! After attending series of training and seminars on stocks, trading and some other workshops on financial freedom, literacy and independence for two years, we have finally decided to give it a GO!

Last May 10, we went to citiseconline or COL's office at the 24th Flr. East Tower, PSE Centre, Exchange Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, applied for and EIP account and funded it right away. After which, we attended their 3-hour seminar as part of their basic stocks education series. It was a good day and we had so much hope that this would certainly work for us and our future. Kudos! To GOD be the Glory!

Taking the words and advices of local and international financial experts, we know we are on the right track. Yes, this may involve risks and downsides, we would like to focus more on its gains and upsides. After all, Philippine economic has been doing well. So, let's hope and pray for the best. Cheers!
