Vice Ganda-Jessica Soho Issue: Trending in Social Media, Reading Netizens' Reactions

This is my blog. This is my own space. I am entitled for my own thoughts and opinions.

"Minsan sa kagustuhan nating maging magaling, nakakalimutan nating maging mabuti."

Hubby and I really didn't like Vice Ganda's jokes over many things and personalities (not just on Soho and on gang rape but in many cases and instances). The same reasons why we no longer watch It's Showtime and GGV - Gandang Gabi Vice despite our being hooked to ABS-CBN Kapamilya's Teleserye, Primetime Bida.  We didn't find his jokes very entertaining, healthy and funny. We are not two of his haters and we respect his avid fans on their extreme belief and admiration to Vice Ganda. And therefore, our stand should also be respected. #respetolangyan

Oh well, some of Vice Ganda's jokes were really funny and he really has sense of humor, but not at all times. Sometimes, he hit below the belt - that might sound very offensive to other people especially if that someone is being referred to or could relate to the subject or comedy material.

Vice Ganda's Joke on Soho

After making jibes at Soho's weight, the comedian jested during his concert last May 17: "Ang hirap nga lang kung si Jessica Soho magbo-bold. Kailangan gang rape lagi. Sasabihin ng rapist, 'Ipasa ang lechon.' Sasabihin naman ni Jessica, 'Eh nasaan yung apple?'" (It will be difficult if Jessica Soho gets naked. It has to be gang rape all the time. The rapist will say, "Pass the pork!" Jessica will say, "But where's the apple?")

Vice Ganda must set his limitations; he is a TV icon and he has been very influential. He must be a good example. So, our dear Vice Ganda, discern, reflect and pray harder. Be blessed and be a blessing.

The best speech ever on a film - It Takes a Man and a Woman...
I'd like to include here what Dante Rivero's (Luis Montenegro, Miggy's Dad) said "Minsan sa kagustuhan nating maging magaling, nakakalimutan nating maging mabuti."

Jessica Soho: Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert. I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke.

They say that comedy should really not be an excuse not to be sensitive especially on issues that no one can laugh about like rape.

A friend of mine, Ms. Aileen Gutierrez posted in her FB account:

This is no longer an issue between two networks. This is an issue governing one's VALUES. Why don't you guys go back to your parents and ask them to teach you some manners, huh?!

To VICE GANDA and his concert organizers: Public apology would be never be enough. You all deserve to learn some lessons the hard way. FAME is temporary. RESPECT is permanent.

Happy reading!
